Born in Venezuela and raised in Colombia and Mexico, Adriana has been a champion for supporting Global Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs), building working relationships with NGOs and consultants, and fostering pre-competitive collaboration within the seafood industry. Her areas of expertise include advocacy, strategic planning, management of international and multicultural teams and projects and helping companies shape their sustainability and seafood traceability commitments as well as representing business interests in the larger sustainability conversation.  

In 2014, she was chosen as a Blue Friend of the Year finalist for the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in the Go Blue Awards. In 2016, Adriana was honored to be featured in Intrafish’s “40 under 40” campaign, Seafood Source’s Seafood Business Insider, and also completed the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) Future Leaders Program. She is a member of FisheryProgress.org website’s Advisory Committee and participates in multiple Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) Supplier Roundtables. Since 2014, she has participated in high level panels and given presentations at the North America Seafood Expo in Boston and the SeaWeb Seafood Summit in New Orleans, Seattle, and Bangkok.

Adriana believes there is a need for helping companies kick-start their sustainability journey and provide cost-effective solutions that are tailored to their business needs. As an advocate for our oceans, she is excited by projects that help connect consumers with products and campaigns that address issues affecting our oceans.

A University of Florida graduate, she received a B.A. in Political Science in 2004 and a M.A in Latin American Studies with a focus in International Relations in 2006. Her career trajectory includes joining Sea Delight, LLC, the family business, as their Sustainability Director in 2010, and later transitioning to Fair Trade USA Seafood program in 2017 as their Business Development Manager. In this role, she learned the importance of addressing social issues and fishers’ livelihoods as well as environmental sustainability. Today she is the Responsible Seafood Strategy Director for Iberostar Hotels & Resorts’ “Wave of Change” movement and continues to support  Seafood Ninja, Inc., a platform that connects industry with existing resources and training, as well as create programs that are cost effective and help companies achieve their seafood sustainability goals.
