Why Seafood Ninja?
In a world where seafood graces millions of tables every day, the journey from ocean to plate is often shrouded in mystery. Questions of sustainability, ethical sourcing, and traceability are increasingly important—but finding clear answers can feel like navigating uncharted waters. That’s where I come in: the Seafood Ninja.
Who is the Seafood Ninja?
This isn’t just about seafood (though let’s be real, who doesn’t love a great ceviche?). It’s about creating a transparent, ethical, and sustainable seafood industry that lets both the planet and people thrive.
Seafood Ninja's Mission
My mission? Simple but bold:
- Champion Sustainability: Advocate for responsible fishing and aquaculture to keep marine ecosystems thriving for generations to come.
- Promote Ethical Practices: Stand up for human rights across the supply chain..
- Empower Transparency: Push for traceability and clear labeling so consumers can make informed, guilt-free seafood choices.
Why the Ninja Approach?
The seafood industry is vast, complex, and sometimes as murky as the ocean’s depths. Big change often requires subtle, strategic moves—and that’s where I shine.
- I’m effective, spotting issues in the supply chain and addressing them with precision.
- I’m adaptable, taking on challenges like navigating regulations, training teams, or introducing innovative traceability tools to partners.
- I’m all about building alliances because teamwork is the only way to tackle global issues like overfishing and forced labor.
The name Seafood Ninja makes me smile because it’s bold, unexpected, and fits like a glove. Like a ninja, I’ve built my career on agility, endurance, and ingenuity—skills that are absolutely vital in the seafood world.
From South Florida to a Global Stage
Maybe it’s time to admit that seafood is in my blood. Growing up in my family’s business, Sea Delight in Miami, I got a front-row seat to the challenges and opportunities in the industry. I wore a lot of hats: managing supplier relationships, coordinating shipments, leading sustainability programs, designing packaging, and more. It was hard work, but it taught me the ins and outs of the supply chain.
That foundation set me up to take on roles with an even bigger impact. At Fair Trade USA, I learned how to turn big-picture sustainability goals into actionable strategies. Later, as the Responsible Seafood Strategy Director for Iberostar Hotels, I developed global solutions for responsible sourcing, even in regions without established certifications or improvement projects.
Along the way, I discovered a love for bringing people together through event planning. Whether it’s workshops or industry summits, I thrive on sparking ideas, sharing knowledge, and inspiring change.
